One of the great things about Lake Kahola is that it’s hard to find by accident. Any resident knows that when you arrive you need to bring with you whatever it is you will require for a successful day, weekend or week. In the past, there has been much to consider;
- Do I have good tires to get there and back?
- Will I need to get and transport fuel for my boat, PWC or whatever?
- Liquid refreshments of any kind are essential to a great weekend.
- Cheetos? Will I have enough Cheetos?
Well, now, thankfully, we have the Kahola Cantina owned and operated by Linda Passmore. At the “KC” you can find plenty of soft drink choices, water and beer. There seems to be a never ending supply of ice – bring your own cooler or leave with bags in hand. Additionally, we’ve purchased a few extra diapers for our grandson, fashionable t-shirts and a Snickers bar or two.
Oh, and if you are a fisherman, there appears to be some tackle there as well as approved live bait. (Approved for Lake Kahola to be Zebra Muscle Free.) But I’m no fisherman so check it out yourself.
Here’s the good thing for this author and Lake Kahola resident… I am no longer freaked out if I run out of gas and now I have to drive all the way to Americus or Council Grove or Emporia with three gas containers to haul back in my car. Why? Because they sell gas right there at the Cantina. How awesome is that?
Kahola Cantina can be found on the the northwest part of the lake just off Kahola grounds. Find them on Facebook.
